Please note the house is now closed for the season.

However, on 3/4th & 10/11th December we are open for self-guided visits and early bird tours.

We also have an exciting programme of Christmas Events including our Christmas Craft Fair on 12th and 13th November.

The grounds are open throughout the year.

Access to the house by wheelchair or for those who have trouble climbing stairs is made very easy by a purpose built lift installed during the restoration. The only area not accessible is the Library, however staff can provide a short video showing the appearance of the room. Fully accessible toilets are available, as well as a hearing loop in the shop.

Booking a Self-guided visit

Tickets to the house during our public opening hours are self-guided, allowing you to explore the house at your own pace.

On arrival you will receive an abridged version of an 18th century guide to the house written by Horace Walpole for his guests. In each of the rooms friendly stewards can answer any other questions you may have.
